Jimmy Beans, a market leading retailer of yarn and accessories for knitters and makers, has reached a acquire Fort Worth-based Madelinetosh, the largest hand-dyed yarn producer in the United States, the company said in a news release.
Jimmy Beans was founded at the downturn of the dotcom boom by former Silicon Valley engineers Laura and Doug Zander who opened a tiny yarn shop in Truckee, California, the company said on its website.
I've never seen this stuff irl, held it or even touched it so I don't know what the big deal is. So I placed an order three days ago with yarn.com and it hasn't shipped yet. I know that's normal, needing processing times and all, but seriously... I really want to see what all the fuss is about. I almost ordered Malabrigo instead but found Madelinetosh DK in the color "Manor". All of the other colors I really wanted were sold out/backordered. That seems pretty normal for this yarn. Is there a good way to get my hands on the color(s) I want should I like it enough to drop another $20 on another hank?
Have you tried Madelinetosh Yarns lately? Mad Tosh brings a legacy of decadent yarns, innovative dyeing methods, and original uses of color. And I get to give away a skein of Tosh Merino Light *and* a set of 6 Unicorn Tails here on Moogly!
